Four Crises In Hezekiah's Life

I. Crises of Choice

A. Chose to forsake the idols of his father, Ahaz. 2 Chronicles 28:24-25; 2 kings 18:4; also 2 Chronicles 29 details how thoroughly he cleansed and sanctified the temple.

B. Chose to trust God. Isaiah 32:1, 2; 2 Kings 18:1, 3, 6, 7; the Assyrians tried to discourage the people form trusting Hezekiah and God. Isaiah 36:15, 18.

II. Crises of invasion - Assyria takes Israel into captivity in 720 B.C. Invades Judah in 713 B.C.

A. Hezakiah went into God's house - the temple. Isaiah 37:1.

B. He prayed. Isaiah 37:4, 14, 15.

C. He trusted God. 2 Chronicles 32:7, 8.

D. Was delivered. Isaiah 37:32; 2 Kings 19:34; Isaiah 37:7.

III. Crises of sickness

A. Obedience furnished Hezekiah a foundation for prayer and healing. Isaiah 38:1, 2, 5.

B. His song of praise. Isaiah 38:9, 20.

IV. Crises of prosperity

A. He was prosperous. 2 Chronicles 31:21; 32:27; 2 Kings 18:7

B. He manifested pride and displayed his treasure to the ungodly. Isaiah 39:1, 2, 5, 6.
